Happy Thanksgiving - Sharing Gratitude (and Pie)

As we approach Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a couple of special traditions from my family to yours. These are moments that have become treasured, even if they’ve sparked a few laughs and groans over the years!
One tradition my mom started involves everyone sharing what they’re grateful for around the table. Now, let’s be honest—there are always a few grumbles when it’s time for everyone to speak. It’s like everyone’s secretly rehearsing their “thankfulness speech” days before. But in the end, hearing everyone’s thoughts makes it all worthwhile (and it keeps everyone on their toes!).
Then there’s my favorite pie tradition: the New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie, made with sweetened condensed milk. I swear, the best recipe is right on the back of the Libby’s can! This version gives the pie just the perfect creamy consistency. Growing up, Pumpkin Pie was my absolute favorite, and my Nana knew it. She would bake pies for the big day—along with an extra one (or two) just for me to enjoy before and after Thanksgiving. This tradition of baking has continued in our family, with everyone pitching in to prepare the pie crusts. Rolling out the dough has become a yearly rite of passage for the kids.
And of course, no pie is complete without a generous dollop of homemade whipped cream!
I’ve attached some of my favorite recipes below. Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours, with a slice of pie and a heart full of gratitude.
Warm wishes,
Jennifer, Roy, Elroy, and my Mom
